Josep Puig i Cadafalch (Catalan, 1867-1956)
Unbuilt Design for Basilica of Our Lady of Luján, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1904
Barcelona architect Cadafalch worked with Josep Casals Goday to create this concept for the Buenos Aires basilica. At 105m tall, it would have rivalled Gaudi’s La Sagrada Familia. But a safer and boringer design was selected instead, and this amazing building was never built.
